There are 3 people in my family, with my daughter in high school. We moved to Malaqinxin Village in 2000. We have been herdsmen for generations, and have never cultivated irrigable land. We sublet our allotted 3 Chinese acres of irrigable land to others, and the rent was merely 300 RMB a year. It was impossible to live on the rent. In 2002, my husband and I made up our mind and bought a second-hand farm four wheeler with our total savings of only several thousand RMB to transport cargo. In two years, we earned about 15,000 RMB. But because maintenance fees were too high for second-hand cars, we decided to buy two dairy cows in 2008. The income from raising two cows is quite considerable; we are able to earn 1200 RMB a month. I hope to take a 2000 RMB loan this time to buy some feed, in order to increase the milk output and increase income.
